Elderly Home Guide…Rooted in love. Guided with Care.
If you’re here, I’m guessing you love someone who is getting older and you’re trying your best to care for them well. Maybe you’re lying awake wondering if you’re doing enough. Maybe you’re exhausted in ways you didn’t expect. Maybe you just need someone who truly understands.
I see you. Because I’ve been exactly where you are.

My Story
My name is Ceci, and caring for aging loved ones has been one of the most defining chapters of my life. As a daughter and a daughter-in-law, I have navigated the joys, the grief, the late nights, and the impossible decisions that come with supporting family members through their later years.

I’ve sat in hospital waiting rooms. I’ve researched medication interactions at midnight. I’ve had the hard conversations about what someone wants for their future and the even harder ones when things didn’t go to plan. I’ve also discovered, along the way, that the moments of genuine connection, a shared meal, a quiet afternoon, a hand held are the ones that matter most.
None of that came with a manual. I learned as I went, leaning on whatever I could find: books, professionals, other caregivers, and eventually my own hard-won experience.
That experience is the heart of everything you’ll find here.
The Moment That Changed Everything
A few years ago, I had the extraordinary privilege of attending a talk by the Dalai Lama. Something he said stopped me completely. He spoke about presence and about how we honour those we love by truly being with them, especially at life’s most tender moments: its beginning, and its end.
I thought about every time I’d been physically present with an aging family member but mentally somewhere else, worrying, planning, trying to fix things. I thought about the gift it would have been, to them and to me, to simply be there.
That afternoon planted a seed. Elderly Home Guide grew from it.
What This Blog Is
Elderly Home Guide is a space for family caregivers, people like you, caring for aging parents or loved ones at home. Throughout my journey I have researched how to cope with the emotional fatigue of caregiving and what I’ve found are strong resources that I will share with you throughout my journey and they are built on various pillars of strength.
Every article on my blog begins with the human experience before the practical advice and the resources I found to help me through my journey because I believe that is the order that matters. You deserve to feel understood before you receive a to-do list.
You will find honest guidance on the emotional realities of caregiving, practical tools and resources for everyday care, recommendations for products that genuinely help (I only share things I believe in), and real stories from real caregiving life, including my own.
This Is For You If…
You are caring for an aging parent or loved one at home — whether that care is just beginning, or you’ve been in it for years. You want practical guidance, but you also want to feel less alone. You believe that love matters just as much as logistics.
Welcome. I’m so glad you found your way here.
